For my reviews I use a star rating system and structure the reviews as follows:
First impressions: These are my initial reactions based on the first pages or chapters of the book.
Lasting impressions: These are my feelings on the most memorable parts of the book.
Conflicting impressions: The parts of the book that didn’t work for me, either compared to the rest of the work or to commonly expressed opinions.
Overall impressions: A summary of my thoughts on the book as a whole.
Ratings: Out of five stars.
5 stars = Loved it and would recommend it to everyone I meet.
4 stars = Really liked it and would recommend it to friends.
3 stars = Liked it and would recommend it with a few reservations.
2 stars = Didn’t care for it much and would not recommend it.
1 star = Hated it and would recommend others not read it.
